Using MS Word or Photoshop, choose one of the following quotes and design a layout based on it. Size is A4, - landscape or portrait. Just type only - no illustrations. Use any typeface families and any colours.

Experiment with different sizes of type. Break the quote down into words and emphasise the words that need it. See if you can convey the meaning of the quote in the type.

The quotes should determine how you manipulate the type - use the type confidently, experiment and have fun.

This assignment requires you to grab a digital camera and find 5 examples of what you feel are good examples of typeface usage (eg: logos, signage, print layouts, graffitti, car graphics, t-shirts etc) - and use 5 examples of bad typeface use.

Generally, you might expect to find 'unrefined' typeface use in flyers, regional papers, community groups, newsletters, mechanic workshop signage, etc. Save your pics and submit them to Flickr with captions explaining why you think it looked bad or good.
